This is primarily a scenic driving tour with optional short walks at viewpoints and attractions.
This tour involves minimal walking and is suitable for most mobility levels. Most attractions can be enjoyed directly from scenic viewpoints and accessible pathways.
Mt Rushmore has the longest walking stretch – the walk from the entrance to the main viewing terrace is short, gently sloped and paved (under half a mile round trip). Elevators are available to the museums, and wheelchairs are available at the entrance if required.

Needles Highway is typically open from late spring through fall, weather permitting. During occasional road closures or adverse weather conditions, alternative scenic routes may be substituted to ensure the best possible experience (eg. a visit to Crazy Horse Memorial)
While wildlife is frequently seen throughout Custer State Park, sightings can never be guaranteed. Every day in the Black Hills is different, which is part of what makes each tour unique!
