We begin the day with a visit to historic Deadwood, where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this legendary gold rush town. Enjoy a visit to the Adams House Museum and pay respects to Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane at Mount Moriah Cemetery. Then step back in time to 1876 as we wander along Deadwood’s iconic Main Street.
Next, we travel through the breathtaking Spearfish Canyon, famous for its towering limestone cliffs, golden aspen groves, and cascading waterfalls. This beautiful stretch of Black Hills scenery also provides the perfect setting for a picnic lunch, if selected.
Our journey through the canyon leads us to the historic Homestake Mine, Lead, now home to the Sanford Underground Research Facility. Here, we’ll explore the rich history of gold mining while learning about the groundbreaking scientific research currently taking place deep beneath the surface.
